Technology :
The latest generation of Don 7550 pads for air disc brake callipers now incorporate the TMD patented pinned back-plate technology.
This brass pin design, in conjunction with wedge shaped under-layers and special adhesives, prevents friction material detachment even in the most arduous temperature conditions. Due to the pins being a soft alloy there is no risk of damage to the rotor.
Developed in conjunction with vehicle and brake system manufacturers, Don brake pads for Knorr-Bremse SB7 applications now utilise a new cast-iron back-plate design. The advantages of this new technology include:
- Prevents friction material detachment
- Lighter
- Stronger
- Greater thermal resistance
- Self-lubrication properties (reduces sticking brakes)
Many air disc brake pads in the Don range now come with a ‘special surface coating’ (normally red in colour).
This OE coating helps cleanse the brake disc during the bedding-in process, whilst providing excellent “first-stop” performance.
For some time TMD Friction has observed the increasing use of non-genuine brake pads and fitting kit accessories. Correct tensioning of disc pad retaining clips is essential for brake safety and they should not be underestimated. Premature wear and weakening of these springs is a common problem when non-genuine accessories are used, resulting in incorrect brake pad positioning. This fault can lead to pad vibration, brake noise and premature wear of associated components.
All Don pads for Knorr-Bremse applications come complete with genuine fitting kits as standard.
